Enjoy a trip to the popular Ile d’Oléron, 20 min drive, with its famous Zoo de Palmyre and a choice of prime Atlantic beaches and seafood restaurants. Royan, 30 km has golf, shopping, beaches, restaurants, nightlife, boat trips and a car ferry to the Gironde, where you can visit the Médoc vineyards. Sophisticated La Rochelle, 55 km. has a pretty fortified harbour with waterfront cafés, boutiques, gourmet restaraunts, and a superb aquarium. A causeway takes you to the beautiful Ile de Ré. An interesting day trip to Cognac, 77 km, with its distillieries, and historic Saintes, 55 km, is worthwhile, and the exciting Futuroscope theme park is 2 hours’ drive.
