Caravan parks in Kent and Sussex
With beautiful coastal locations Kent and Sussex are perfect for a Spring holiday, whether it’s a self catering short break or a longer stay you’re looking for.
From the glorious beach and countryside of the beautiful Garden of England, to the historic towns and rolling South Downs of Sussex, this area is truly idyllic. Visit Canterbury Cathedral, 1066 country of the legendary White Cliffs of Dover. Take a day trip to Paris or climb aboard a warship in Chatham Docks. Come face to face with a tiger in Howletts Wild Animal Park or make a pit stop at Brands Hatch for some high-octane action. Make sure you also visit the sand dunes on one of the stunning beaches!
There is plenty of self catering accommodation available in Kent and Sussex but one of the easiest and most cost effective ways to explore this beautiful part of south east England is by staying on a Sussex holiday park or Kent caravan park. Accommodation in a static caravan or mobile home offers you an affordable and comfortable stay where you can come and go as you please. The great thing about holiday parks is that they also include great facilities close by whether it is a hot tub, swimming pool, kids entertainment or a bar. You will find Kent caravan parks at all the popular destinations including New Romney, Sheerness, Herne Bay and Whitstable. Similarly you will find some great Sussex holiday parks at Camber Sands, Hastings, Battle and Rye.
Of course if holiday parks are not your thing there are plenty of self catering apartments and cottages throughout the south east, check out some Sussex self catering and Kent self catering here.

New safari tents at Ty Nadan in Brittany
Find Family Holidays got an unexpected sneak preview of the new safari tents being put up at Ty Nadan holiday park in South Brittany.
On the park for a short break, we noticed that wood flooring was being laid out and furniture was appearing so, being just a little nosey, we waited for them to finish before sneaking in to take a closer look.
First impressions are very good. These heavily canvassed tents are huge, giving good day living space as well as adequate sleeping accommodation. But what you will notice first is that there is real solid wood furniture, comfy seating and good lighting. It is certainly camping on the luxurious side of things, with a lot of effort and money spent to create the safari feel.
It has to be said though that our favourite bit of luxury was the two large hammocks outside for making the most of the long sunny afternoons.
We saw 2 of the safari tents go up in with a matter of days so there may be more soon. See camping holidays in Brittany and camping holidays in France

The little know facts about Croatia
Croatia is a Central European and Mediterranean country, bordering Slovenia in the west, Hungary in the north, Serbia in the east and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the south. Croatia covers a land area of 56,691 square kilometres and has a population of about 4.4 million people (2001 census). The main population centres are Zagreb, the capital, Osijek in the northwest, and the ports of Rijeka, and Split in the south.
Croatia has an amazing 5,835km of coastline, 4,057km of which belongs to islands, cliffs and reefs. There are 1,185 islands in the Adriatic, but only about 50 are populated. The largest island is Krk (near Rijeka) which has a land area of 462 square km.
The climate is Mediterranean along the Adriatic coast, meaning warm dry summers and mild winters; it is one of the sunniest coastlines in Europe! In land the climate is continental with hot summers and cold, snowy winters.
Although Croatia has a rich history, there are things about Croatia that you may not know about. Did you know that the Cravat is connected to Croatia? The cravat originated in the 1630s in France where Croatian mercenaries were based at the time, there to help support King Louis XIII. These Croatian soldiers wore these unusual neckties which caught the attention of the fashionable Paris set – and the cravat was born. The word “cravat” comes from the Croatian for Croatia – which is “Hrvat”.There are many lovely places to stay in Croatia, how about Lanternacamp in Porec. This is a large and impressive park with an excellent pool. There is plenty to do away from the park, with Porec, the area’s premier resort, just 10km away. Heading inland will take you back in time to the beautifully unspoilt villages, mountains and lakes of the National Parks.

Flying with Children doesn’t have to be a pain
Before you take off, let the kids burn off some energy. Get them to walk as opposed to carrying them around the airport. Show them the planes, and when you board, take them to see the cockpit and meet the pilot if you can. It also doesn’t hurt to allow them to stay up a little past their bedtime the night before; this way they may actually nap on the plane. If you’re travelling with a baby in a push chair, keep it until the last possible moment. Then if your flight is delayed, your child will have a place to sleep.
While in flight, make sure children are comfortable and occupied. Prepare them for the experience by describing what they can expect to feel (turbulence, ear-popping, etc.) and let them know that it is normal. Many airlines offer something special for the kids, full of games, puzzles, activities and short stories to occupy their in-flight time. If the flight attendant doesn’t volunteer anything, ask. Many wise parents opt to bring their own.If your child is anxious about flying, there is a great book called “How to Fly For Kids” which explains what your child can expect to experience, like the “G” force and turbulence, in a very UN-scary way. It is a good idea to carry some boiled sweets with you to suck during takeoff, landing and turbulence; apart from the swallowing helping with the ear popping, it can help to take their mind off the situation.
There are some fantastic places to stay that will not cost the earth, and they don’t have to be the typical ‘package holiday’ in a hotel. Ever thought of staying in a mobile home or villa in Italy?
Have a look at Pra Delle Torri, Caorle, Adriatic Coast.
Situated on the Northern Coast of the Adriatic, between Venice and Trieste, enjoy a great family holiday at Pra Delle Torri in Italy. The pool complex at Prá Delle Torri is definitely one of the most spectacular in Europe, with a first class array of swimming pools, waterslides and children’s pools. There’s also direct access to a compact beach with all kinds of water sports on offer, as well as an 18 hole golf course that offers a 40% reduction on green fees. The quaint Venetian style fishing town of Caorle with its attractive centre is nearby, while the popular resort of Jesolo is just half an hour’s drive away.

The more things change, the more kids stay the same.
The more things change, the more kids stay the same. The family Chevy turned into the family station wagon, turned into the family minivan, which is now the family SUV. Even with the advent of in-seat TV’s, mp3 players and Nintendo DS — surprise — kids still can’t get along in the backseat! Here are a few quick tips for travelling with children.
Before you even leave the house, it’s a good idea to prepare your kids for the trip. If they are old enough to read, give them books about the area you are travelling to and do some research online. If not, read to them and show them pictures of the places they will see. If you are travelling to a foreign country, introduce them to the food they will taste at home before you go to help ease the culture shock upon your arrival.
Finding Family-Friendly Lodging
In most cases, the more space the better. Rather than booking a handful of rooms, or worse, trying to cram everyone into two standard double beds, you might want to try staying in a mobile home or a villa in the country of your choice.Have a look at Callao Negro Villas in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote

Each house is built on an 800 sq metre plot; therefore there is plenty of space as well as privacy from its neighbour. They are ideal for couples or small families looking for high quality accommodation at a reasonable price. -
